Cheeseburger Bot is a discontinued Discord bot created and developed by !meow. It is written entirely in Python and was known for archiving the messages of the Discord servers Cumball and JJHS, and being used to DM multiple people at once, sometimes multiple times per day. When JJHS was repurposed, it served as Cumball's exclusive message archiver, member messenger, and more.

Origin

On September 15, 2019, !meow would create a Discord bot account. It's unknown what the bot was intended to be used for at the time, but the account was created regardless, possibly for future projects or practicing their programming skills.

On March 16, 2021, the GitHub repository for Cheeseburger Bot was created by !meow's GitHub account REDPANDAUWU. One day later it would get its first commit. !meow would make 5 commits using the account and then stop making commits on that account in favor of a new account meow6969, named after their Discord account at the time meow#6969. Using this new account, they would make hundreds of commits to the bot over multiple years, adding tens of features along the way and updating it alongside Discord's bot changes.

Commands

Cheeseburger Bot had many commands, but the most used were fwt!archive and dmall. fwt!archive was the command used to archive messages in a channel, and dmall was used to Direct Message all users in the server that it possibly could. Many users would complain about the dmall command and on many occasions ask or even beg for its removal, however, the command stayed.

Archives

Cheeseburger Bot had the ability to do Discord chat message archives. This ability was used extensively in JJHS before it was repurposed and Cumball until the bot was discontinued. These chat archives were available in some way shape or form online for years, with them even being on cunny.zone at one point until being removed for an unknown reason.

Archives could be performed with the fwt!archive command, or done on an automatic weekly basis. Regardless of which way the archiving process would be triggered, the bot would take the contents of messages, message authors' usernames, links to the authors' profile pictures and links to any media in said messages, and organize them all into embeds to be sent to a private archive server. When the bot was done archiving a message from a server channel, it would delete the message, but leave the copy in the archive server untouched. Then finally, the archive server would be frequently archived with third-party archiving tools by users in the server.

These chat archives, although not as polished as ones from tools like DiscordChatExporter, form the backbone of the factual information for pages in Mun Twitter Wiki. Due to the nature of these archives being HTML files, citing them as sources couldn't be done conventionally, so a new method had to be invented by the wiki user fidelity that is currently used in countless pages.

Issues

Archives using the bot had their exact dates and times scrubbed and replaced with the date and time the messages were sent to the archive server during the archiving process. While this isn't the biggest problem, as messages were archived weekly or almost weekly, it can cause problems with compiling exact events the exact time they happened, especially if the events were happening in messages that have no other archives and do not exist in the present day otherwise.

Discontinuation

Despite being functionally discontinued, or abandoned, it is still in Cumball with its full permissions intact, which leaves some members to wonder if it may return like other Cumball-exclusive bots such as Neko III.
