Monopole Mary (nee: Marylin Palmer May) is a former Investigative Journalist, writer, and former star of Mary's Truth2), a popular investigative journalism show on the news channel LNC. She is the main protagonist of the Monopole Mary franchise alongside Dipole David. Due to her past trauma and mental issues, she developed a deep desire to seek out the truth, a desire that became so powerful that she faked her own death to pursue criminals or criminal organizations that evaded justice. She uses her skills as an investigative journalist as well as other skills she acquired in the years after her legal death, and the financial and physical assistance from her best friend Dipole David to pursue these criminals as a vigilante. After multiple years of successful vigilantism, Mary became obsessed with bringing the legally dead child sex trafficker and American financier Jeffery Epstein to justice after clues about him possibly being alive surfaced in the Epstein Files and other documents. She is obsessed with him specifically because his crimes draw parallels to her own trauma of being sexually abused as a child, a trauma that both haunts her, and motivates her to seek out criminals.

Origin

Marylin Palmer Heather May was born on May 12, 1999 in Moyie Springs Idaho to her married biological parents Bill May and Martha May.3) She would spend only a few weeks in Idaho, before being raised primarily in Palm Beach, Florida after her father Bill found better financial opportunities there.

She would be known as an outgoing, energetic girl throughout her formative years, participating in as many school projects as she had the time for. By the time she was 9, she knew almost every kid in her school and was on good terms with them. From an early age, Mary would be known for her truth-seeking behavior, sometimes going over-the-top to seek out the truth if she thought someone was lying. This truth-seeking would make her very difficult in regards to class projects or activities that involved hiding or twisting the truth, which would make her teachers as well as parents both proud and disappointed as sometimes her truth-seeking behavior would border on bullying if she misunderstood what someone was saying as a lie, or too good to be true. Eventually, she would grow to be much better at identifying lies, as she hated to make truthful people sad or grow hatred towards her over misunderstandings, she would, however, take pride in having liars hate her, with her so-called catchphrase being “If you hate me, you hate the truth”, a saying and philosophy that would carry her through the rest of her life.

Personality

Mary can have a different personality or values depending on whether she is medicated or not.

Medicated Mary is a truthful, geniune, honest, caring, kind, bombastic and forward individual who cares a lot about the truth, but not enough to sacrifice everything around her for it, as she is reasonable. If she is unmedicated, however, she can be a very pessimistic, depressive, obsessive truth-seeker who would cut her own legs off to put criminals like Epstein behind bars for good.4) If she is very unmedicated and paranoid, she can go on very long drawn-out tangents that can bewilder even the most stoic of individuals, and can go very well in her favor if she is lucky, something that she uses in great effect during her heists against criminals. To prevent her from losing control, she always has medication in her pocket, but when that runs out, she can use many of her mental exercises she developed to calm herself and gain sanity, but as a last-ditch solution, she can call upon David to make herself stable again.

Heart problems

Mary has had heart problems throughout her life. At an early age, her fast-beating heart would be a superpower for her, allowing her to be very energetic and stay that way for hours, much to her parents' exhaustion. However, as she got older and acquired mental scars, this blessing turned into a curse that would make her faint if she over-exerted herself (something she enjoyed doing), triggered a panic attack, reminded herself of her trauma, and even some schizophrenic episodes can make her faint. It's assumed that if her heart beats fast enough, she could suffer many worse fates than harmlessly fainting such as brain damage, cardiac arrest, popped blood vessels or other fatal issues. Because she faints much more often than the average person, she suffers from many bruises, cuts, and other injuries to her face, head, shoulders and other parts of her body from the sudden fall, with the body part she injures the most being her nose, which can swell up bright red when she faints. Surprisingly, however, she has never actually broken her nose from fainting, with her only nose-breaking incident happening when she was 9 and tried to climb an unstable shelf.

Schizophrenia

From when she was born until her teens, she had no symptoms of schizophrenia, being able to function normally with a quiet head and clear thoughts, but eventually she would develop a form of schizophrenia that can become paranoid under the right conditions.

She was diagnosed at 17 after her parents noticed that she developed the behavior talk to herself often, which, while normal now, was not normal then. Her parents would send her to the nearest psychiatric hospital to be evaluated, where she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She would be given a regimen of medication to help clear her head if she became unable to function, which made her mother have to be her caretaker until she learned to live with the condition.

Her schizophrenia would worsen over time, but slowly between the years of 17 and 19 before it would become much worse in the span of a few months, a period she would label “the dark ages” later on. She would notice, however, that her schizophrenia would help her significantly when it came to seeking out the truth as many of her voices would point out key details about someone's demeanor or someone's story, which would temper her acquired truth-seeking into a lie-detecting superpower.

This schizophrenia would fuel her delusional obsession with bringing Jeffery Epstein to justice by any means necessary, including sacrificing her health and all of her material possessions.

Host and creator of Mary's Truth

After graduating from highschool, she became a writer for a small local newspaper, gaining notoriety for her distinctly clear and genuine writing style. This style as well as her first attempts at investigative journalism showed readers that she would go above and beyond what most would consider reasonable for a small newspaper. Thanks to her and other writers for the paper, it would grow rapidly, being one of the most popular news sources in the area for its genuine, and sometimes deadpan honesty when it came to reporting news. This rapid growth would catch the attention of many media outlets who did their own investigation into the matter, and found that Mary was the spearhead driving the popular honest news in the region.

One of these media outlets, a news television channel known as LNC, was very enamored by her honest coverage and decided to hire her to do the morning news for the channel. Mary, realizing that this would bring truth and honesty for more people, quit the local newspaper and began working for LNC as a fact-checker and de facto lie detector for the writers before eventually writing her own news stories to save on time.

Soon she would find herself being a host of the morning news, with her striking appearance and direct speaking style becoming a quick hit for the watchers of LNC. Eventually she would become so popular that she would be featured in nearly every news segment the channel had to offer, with many competing channels fighting to get her to work for them instead.

Mary would have an idea one day to make truth-seeking more than just fact-checking and story-writing and pitched the idea of doing a public investigative journalist show starring, produced, written, and directed by her. The executives would initially push back on this idea, as it would definitely be bad press towards LNC especially if she exposed bad company practices within LNC or towards its corporate allies, but eventually, as she became the face of LNC and truthful reporting, they agreed, but only if she didn't investigate LNC.

She would agree to their terms and launch Mary's Truth, the show where she would use LNC's resources and reach to investigate terrible corporate practices, policies, and other terrible things happening in the world that needed more attention drawn towards them. The show would be an outstanding success for LNC, boosting their viewership over 4 times during its peak. This success would boost the evaluation of LNC, but none of the same success would be trickled down to Mary. She didn't mind being paid the same as she believed that the truth mattered more than a paycheck, with this situation being mentioned on the show as well.

Falling out with LNC

LNC would report on a news story about formerly alive child sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein, and the related Epstein Files. This segment would be more viewed than the Mary's Truth segment that was live at the time, which caught the attention of Mary herself quickly. After her segment was done, she would view the story and be intrigued, mostly because it was familiar to her own trauma. She would, against the judgement of her peers, release an exposé about Jeffery Epstein after weeks of thorough search which would be viewed to great reception. Despite presenting facts gathered from the Epstein files and being truthful in her reporting, and the episode being a success LNC would pull the episode for unknown reasons.

Mary would take this negatively, finding it odd that they would pull this episode and not any of her others exposing other sex traffickers and evil-doing powerful elites. Being the truth-seeker that she is, she would conduct her own secret investigation of LNC to find the lapse in their logic. What she found was diabolical; many high-ranking executives in LNC were actually in the Epstein files, and were confirmed to be using language that his customers would use to solicit sexual favors or the purchase of children for sexual purposes. Over the coming months, she would accumulate as much damning evidence as she could to prove that LNC was harboring sex offenders within its ranks, still doing episodes of her show and listening to her higher-ups.

Then came the fateful day of the release. Mary would explain to her team that she would expose the biggest story yet, something that was brewing for months and was a personal research project. Everyone in the room was shocked at what she discovered about LNC. Despite it being in her contract that she could not investigate LNC or its allies, she went and did it anyway. The team was deeply split about what to do, were they to do the right thing and release it at the cost of their jobs, or were they oust Mary for breaking her contract? Mary read every team member well, as she didn't take her medication that morning. She knew what she had to do. She made a speech to every team member in the room, convincing them that nothing was more important than the truth, and it succeeded. The team members decided to go AWOL and broadcast her exposé for all to hear. They locked the doors to their set and blocked every door that they couldn't lock and made it their mission to get this message out. It was moments before management knew something off was going on. It was now or never as LNC switched over to her show after the morning's news.

Mary would do what she did best, punctually, clearly, without a tear in her eye or a break in her voice, she delivered what everyone needed to hear. LNC was harboring pedophiles featured in the Epstein Files. She was ready to throw it all away for the truth. All LNC had to do was not censor her in the first place. What she said in that segment would go down in history as one of the most honest, heartfelt, and genuine pieces of news ever broadcasted. With tears in her eyes and the fear building up as the segment was nearing its halfway mark and management closer and closer to getting in, she felt everything closing in around her, and for the first time ever, her heart would pump too fast, and she would faint. The crew would run towards her, and before they could get her up, the doors blasted open, the room filling with angry executives. Mary would regain consciousness in a few moments, realize what was going on, with all the voices in her head filling her in on every detail she glossed over. All she could do in that moment, was laugh. She did her mission, sacrificed her job, stable pay, a whole segment, just to see the looks on their faces. She found it. This was her purpose. This was her reason. This was the best day of her life.

Rock bottom

Mary would be fired the same day. People from throughout Palm Beach would begin protesting her removal and began also protesting against LNC. Mary would get sued for violating her contract, and about half of the money she got from being their golden girl would be ripped from her. She would go home that day exhausted, but more proud than she ever was doing any other story. She made a difference, too. All the ousted LNC executives would be arrested for her findings, and she would be protected by police officers outside her home should any of them try anything hasty.

But it wasn't enough. A day turned into days, then a week, then two weeks, and she was missing that thrill, that high of doing something so right, setting so many things into motion, mobilizing everyone to pursue the truth that she wasn't satisfied with just one big takedown. She wanted more, much more, but no news organization would hire her. They were too scared now, too scared that she would do too much of the right thing for their own good.

She then looked back on what started this, the segment about Jeffery Epstein, and she remembered something odd she recognized throughout her entire research. Epstein died in his cell from suicide right before he was going to reveal everyone who worked with him. That was odd. It's almost like he was about to reveal the truth just like her but he was snuffed out right before he could do so.

So then, she looked even deeper. So deep that it was unreasonable. She did have a lot of time on her hands after being fired. She did so much research without taking breaks that she would forget to take her pills. Hours turned into obsessive days filled with compiling every little detail present in those files, connecting all the dots, tying all the threads, posting all the pins, she dedicated one wall, then another, then another, then another, and when she ran out, she used her ceiling, then her floor, then her windows. Everything that wasn't a pathway to the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen were all cluttered, no, perfectly organized tapestries of everything that was damning about Epstein.

She had figured it out. After 4 weeks, 3 days, 16 hours and 21 minutes, she figured it all out. Jeffery Epstein didn't kill himself, and he wasn't murdered either. He faked his own death. There was no body, that's why there was no footage, that's why 15 coincidences all coincided on that fateful day. He escaped… But how?

Breaking Point

Mary noticed that she was hearing voices, seeing things that shouldn't make sense. She was in a safe space, her home, her comfortable home she spent 2 months not working in, putting all the pieces together. She began to find comfort in these voices. These voices allowed her to seek out the truth in the most damned of places, allowed her to put all the pieces together not just in regards to NLC, but Epstein and his fake death. Soon she would realize that in order to go further, in order to seek out the biggest lie of all, she would need to throw everything away, not just her dream job and her friends, but something more. She had to gamble with everything. It was all or nothing.

She would do research on the internet about this. If Epstein can fake his death and somehow get out of that correctional facility, then she can too, most definitely. She found out about 4chan, X, the dark web, TOR, onion links, VPNs, and so much more. All of these helpful things would help her get out and be free to do what she lives for: finding the truth. She would throw it all away just for a glimpse of Epstein's distraught face as his lie all became undone.

The research was done, the truth about how to fake your own death was uncovered from all the lies.

Now all she needed to do was put the plan into action. She called on an old friend, and a new one.

With the help of Dipole David and an unidentified third party, Mary successfully faked her death after months of planning between the three. Her legal cause of death was from a gas leak causing a gas explosion in her home. In order to pull the plan off, Mary had to pull a few of her teeth to match previous dental records and leave everything behind, both of which she references when she has doubts about her current life.

As Monopole Mary

From the ashes of all of her papers, unkept belongings and her whole life until that point, she would be reborn as Monopole Mary, the divine seeker of the truth. She chose the word “monopole” because according to everyone else, she technically only existed in theory now, and she kept Mary because to her, Mary meant truth, it was the only thing about her that has been true since her birth, and it was the name that brought so much truth to so many people, so she decided to keep it despite having the freedom to take on a different name.
